San Antonio - February 2014

San Antonio - February 2014
We were left in a city that has pleasantly surprised, Austin and of which we told you about here; but today we bring you (even if only virtually) ever in South Texas, specifically in San Antonio.
It is a colonial mission dating back to the 18th century, founded by the Spanish to convert the natives to Christianity of the place. It was later occupied by Mexican soldiers who gave it the name of the Alamo (Poplar in Italian). During the war of independence of Texas from Mexico some rebels managed to occupy the property, who fortified it and barricarvisi inside. Most famous is the battle of "The Alamo" (March 6, 1836) in which practically all the Texans lost their lives. It seems that only a few women with children and some slaves were able to save.
At the entrance is free, but you can not do either filming or photographs unfortunately. Still trying to describe what is inside, we can say that it seems to be in a small church with a single nave covered in stone (a little 'Romanesque style) and where you can see artifacts and reconstructions of the history of the mission and the battle.
The city of San Antonio is divided essentially into two levels: that of the road with the Alamo, skyscrapers, parks, etc.. and the level of the river which is crossed by the River Walk with all the endless row of bars, restaurants and pubs.
Still remaining on the level "street" we think it worthwhile to point out that the Bexar County Courthouse is a historic building in downtown San Antonio built in red sandstone and overlooking a beautiful square in the center, and the Tower of Americans, the highest tower on top of which there is a vantage point of the city with an amazing revolving restaurant.
This tower is the tallest building tanger outlet gonzales la in San Antonio with its 231 m height. Around its base is developed Hemisfair Park, green trees, walking trails and lots of fountains and waterfalls that carry between them in tubs very beautiful. There is also a point of Bicycle made available for those who want to get around the city faster on two wheels.
Not far from the park is the Market Square, the largest market for most of Mexican tanger outlet gonzales la trinkets for tourists is open every day from 10.00 to 18.00. Honestly there we walked around but did not find much.
It is a walk of about 4 km along the river that runs exclusively on trails on foot and even by circuits that allow the ring to have a totally different perspective of the city.
Virtually every inch of this walk is characterized by bars, restaurants and various shops one more beautiful and characteristic of the other and - no small feat - for all budgets. We have come, following the map and follow the signs along the trail, practically the whole walk.
E 'in one of the rooms of the River Walk where we stopped to watch the 48th final of the Super Bowl of American football. Unfortunately, the match was not much, in fact, the Seattle Seahawks have played the Denver Broncos 43-8. The dinner of delicious Mexican dishes, however, was exquisite.
We would very much have liked to visit the McNay Museum but for a serious mistake in the guide which was missing a zero on the number of the address (our GPS took us to an area of the city to another dodgy) we did not succeed. We passed through the area in search of this blessed museum, when you finally find a free wi-fi, tanger outlet gonzales la we realized that the address of the museum on the site was different from the one indicated by the guide. Tired and a little 'miffed we dropped.
