Galera is this: the period of our blog on MTV Portal and I'm just re-posting here my podcasts I posted there. This talks about the Contemporary Jazz: a salad - or crumbs - of styles; a fusion and confusion of sound aesthetic. Everything is fair in called Contemporary Jazz: a single musician can play traditional with a retro swing and the next disc impregnate psychedelia and electronics in his music. The influences of other musical idioms such as rock, funk, pop and hip hop come to not only become clear as to come to be prevalent in some discs of Jazz. But the interesting thing is even embracing other musical styles, the Jazz will always have its own identity, which allows us to say, for example: "Dude, this composition has hip hop beats, but it's Jazz." Like every musician, even when very eclectic, can show a jazzy identity of its own.
In this first podcast blog I published in Modern Farofa MTV Portal (03/08/2009) I present five musicians, woolies their bands are releasing fantastic work in this early 21st century The track that starts the podcast is a modern blues called Minor Blues, disco theme The Next Step (2001), composed by guitarist Kurt Rosenwinkel, one of the most distinctive guitarists of the current jazz timbre. woolies The second track is In the Loop, which is the eponymous album released in 2006 by saxophonist Ted Nash (notice the clever dialogue sax Ted Nash with the trumpet Marcus woolies Printup). The third track, Sucker Punch, is in the experimentalist band Vardermark Five, led by saxophonist Ken Vandermark disk Target or Flag (1998): here the quintet of Chicago pervades woolies psychedelia and free jazz improvisations to her. The fourth track, Where Y'all At the From the Plantation to the Penitentiary woolies (2007) disc is a funkeado jazz with spoken word (almost close to the style of rap), trumpeter Wynton Marsalis where some critical problems of American society - as racism, for example, and the very atidude of blacks who become complicit with such problems. And the last track, Acid Samba (2000) is a fantastic sonzeira the Brazilian trombonist Bocato. Hearing all the good!
